Mr. David Ferguson

It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to Rappahannock High School for the 2022- 23’ School Year. Rappahannock High School (RHS) is the serving high school for all of Richmond County, located in the beautiful and historic Northern Neck of Virginia. RHS closed out the 2021-22; school year on a course we had not seen in two years. We had traditional graduation on a beautiful June morning for the first time since 2019. Our celebrations did not end there as the 2021-22 school year continued with our students having success out of the classroom and on the fields and courts for VHSL events, national and state competitions for SkillsUSA, HOSA, and FFA. Our Raiders truly made their mark as they prepare to enter new destinations in their lives.

We celebrated the Class of 2022 and immediately began to prepare for the upcoming school year. We welcome the Class of 2027 to RHS and our opportunity to serve you as we #StayTheCourse and continue working with our community to provide the best education possible.

We are continuing our #BeARaider campaign, and our students, faculty, and community support this endeavor as we all come together to show what it means to #BeARaider. Whether you are looking for academic success, performing arts, community service or athletic prowess, or career and technical education, we are proud to say that the students and faculty of RHS will provide you with all of the above.

Our school offers our students the academic opportunity to participate in Dual Enrollment courses with Rappahannock Community College, Governor School with the Chesapeake Bay Governor School, Virtual Virginia classes, JROTC courses, and other Career and Technical Education courses are available as a member of the Northern Neck Technical Center and a faculty and staff that will meet our students needs and strive for continued success.

Students looking for a way to participate within our school have no shortage of opportunities. RHS is a member of the Northern Neck District and Class 1 Region A as a participating school in 14 Virginia High School League-sponsored categories. Our teachers offer a variety of extracurricular clubs both during and after school hours, in addition to performing arts such as choral music, marching band, theatre, and Lyrics Out Loud.

I am beginning my 8th year as the proud principal of RHS, and I reside beside you as a member of Raider Country with my family. My wife, Rachel, is a teacher for Richmond County Public Schools (RCPS), and both of our children attend RCPS.

If our team can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Again welcome to RHS, and we hope to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at (804) 333-3127 if you have any questions or via e-mail at
